Relic Entertainmentās Age of Empires 4 may still be warming the seats at the pre-Alpha stadium, but Xbox Manager Shannon Loftis has told Stevivor that long-term goals for Microsoft may well include getting the game to consoles.
“It’s hard, as a PC game,” Loftis said. “We want to make it great on PC. But then, I think the whole concept of platform is about to change with Xbox.”
“We are working hard to make sure to visualise all the different ways that people are going to want to experience Age (of Empires). But our number one priority is to make it work great with keyboard and mouse.”
Creative director Isgreen added “We’re going to explore our options. Once we have our wonderful PC game, then we’ll start looking at other ways that we can show up.”
The team at Relic have been working on Age Of Empires 4 for just over two years now, having announced the sequel in August 2017. Quite a bit has changed in the gaming landscape since then, but Isgreen has said the title wonāt have any microtransactions when it finally hits PCs.
“The idea of microtransactions in a real-time strategy game isn’t a thing”, he said. “DLC, expansions – all of that is things that we’re going to be exploring for Age 4.”
