Back To The Future is 40 this year, and there’s a fresh IMAX release for the original, and new Steelbooks coming of the trilogy.

It’s party time in Hill Valley over the coming months, as one of the finest films of all time – Robert Zemeckis’ Back To The Future – is set to celebrate its 40th birthday.

The film, which of course sparked a trilogy that had the courtesy to stop at three movies (without further prequels, legacy-quels, WTFquels and such like – just a musical), is going to be getting an IMAX release as part of the celebrations too. The date to mark in your calendars for that is 31st October of this very year. Personally, I think the one I’d most like to see get an IMAX release is Back To The Future Part III, but I can cope with watching the first one again in a cinema, thank you very much.

Expect cinemas to start listing tickets for the re-release shortly, and it’s pretty certain you’ll be able to find a venue around the UK that’s going to show the film.

Then, there’s physical media.

For the avid collector, who doesn’t already own 72312 copies of the films in various formats, there’s a trilogy of posh Steelbook 4K Ultra HD Blu-rays heading our way as well.

These are going to be pricey, at basically £50 apiece, and you have to buy them individually. Inside the posh casing – adorned with fresh artwork – will be what we’re assuming to be the existing 4K transfers of the films, a smattering of fresh extra features, and assorted cards, pictures, pieces of paper and whatnot.

10th November 2025 is when you can expect the fresh physical media releases of the entire trilogy, and they’re all up for preorder now.
