Sally Hawkins is up to no good in the Bring Her Back trailer from the directors of Talk To Me. Take a look, if you dare.
Before diving back into the world of cursed, embalmed hands, Danny and Michael Philippou are looking to scare our socks off with another horror film. The Talk To Me directors have already teased their new film, Bring Her Back, with a brief teaser, but the full trailer gives us a better understanding at what’s going on.
Take a look below:
The Philippou’s also stopped by CinemaCon to show some more footage, but audience members were strictly told not to share any details. By the sounds of it, though, we’re in for another slow-burn terror fest.
The official synopsis for Bring Her Back is brief:
A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.
The trailer opens with someone asking Sally Hawkinsā character how she dealt with Kathy’s death. Who’s Kathy? We have no idea, but if we had to guess ā and this is only a guess ā it could be her daughter. Hawkins then describes in a voiceover how some believe that spirits can live in bodies for months after death, and there’s old footage of corpses coming back to life.
We’re definitely intrigued by this. The film was inspired partly by the Philippous’ cousin losing their child as well as the loss of a friend who died during the film’s pre-production, giving Bring Her Back an added level of “rawness”.
“Horror is a fun way to look at dark things like that,ā Danny Philippou said at CinemaCon, as reported by Deadline, āand the idea of her never being OK ever again⦠that was an inspiration point. How far she would go to heal herself from that and the idea of a never-ending grief cycle is terrifying to me.”
Bring Her Back is heading to US cinemas on the 30th May, but has no confirmed UK release date yet. We’ll make sure to keep you updated on that.
