Just four months away from release, Captain America: Brave New World is once again back before cameras for some last-minute reshoots.
Momentum is vital for Marvel at this stage in its wobbling cinematic universe, and so it’s trying its damnedest make its next release, Captain America: Brave New World, land with audiences. That includes yet another round of reshoots, with reports suggesting that star Anthony Mackie has been involved in more additional photography in the last week or two, even though the film’s February 2025 release date is less than four months away.
The film has already undergone extensive reshoots already, with Giancarlo Esposito joining the project during that round of shooting this summer. Principal photography took place between March and June of last year. DanielRPK has claimed that a recent test screening has led to Marvel once again setting up reshoots, and whether that’s accurate or not, it’s clear that the studio is doing everything in its power to make sure this one pleases its audience.
Theories on where exactly things went awry for the Marvel Cinematic Universe might differ, but it’s fair to say that the studio’s interconnected films have largely failed to generate as much interest in the years following 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, the crowning climax to all the films that preceded it.

While there have been wins and losses in the years since, the successes haven’t been anywhere as consistent as they used to be. However, with both Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 and Deadpool & Wolverine landing well commercially and critically (for the most part – we didn’t love the latter), Marvel Studios finds itself in the position of enjoying two hits from its last three releases. (The other release being The Marvels (not Quantumania as we mistakenly wrote earlier – Ed) a film that Marvel itself has probably forgotten it even made.)
It isn’t quite the run of old just yet, but certainly a turn back towards a more consistent form, and an indication that audience appetite is still there for the right characters and stories.
Given that Marvel’s string of films after this one contain a Fantastic Four, a Spider-Man (recently delayed), not to mention a couple of Avengers entries, the studio has all of its big hitters lined up to bat. Maintaining its upwards trajectory and generating audience interest for those films will be high on the studio’s list of priorities. We’ll see if Captain America: Brave New World can do that when it launches on the 14th February 2025.
