Bungie emerges victorious in a $12 million lawsuit against cheat distributor VeteranCheats, first filed back in 2021.

Mihai Claudiu-Florentin, the person behind the website VeteranCheats, now owes Bungie more than $12 million in damages.

Bungie originally filed the lawsuit back in August 2021, and in February this year the company sought around $2,000 in damages for every sale of a Destiny 2 cheat by VentureCheats. It identified 5,848 separate transactions.

The court judgement found that Claudiu-Florentin, a resident of Romania, violated the terms of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) by selling the Destiny 2 cheats. The judgement continues to say that Bungie alleges that ā€œthe VeteranCheats Hack has caused it harm by diminishing the enjoyment of the game for those not cheating and reducing its potential revenue from in-game sales to players.ā€

The Destiny 2 cheats are no longer listed on the VentureCheats website. However, the site still continues to offer a range of cheats, such as aimbots and recoil removers, for a wide range of other titles, including Warframe, Apex Legends and Dota 2.

This isnā€™t the first time Bungie has won a lawsuit against cheat distributors. Back in February, the company won $4.3 million in a case against AimJunkies. Quite how the cheat vendors at the heart of the cases are meant to find these millions of dollars in damages is anyoneā€™s guess, but for now, it seems that Bungieā€™s war against cheaters is interminable.
