Thorā€™s Chris Hemsworth is to star in sci-fi adventure The Corsair Code, based on a short story by the writer of The Adam Project.

Apple may be reigning in its expenditure, but the tech giant still has a streaming platform to feed with new films and TV shows. One project on the horizon is The Corsair Code, a feature film based on a short story by Jonathan Tropper and set to star Chris Hemsworth.

Tropper, whose recent works includes the screenplay for director Shawn Levyā€™s sci-fi adventure The Adam Project, reportedly took the story to Hemsworth, who liked it so much that he and producer partner Ben Grayson agreed to make the film through its production company, Wild State.

That package was then shopped around to Hollywood studios, and according to Deadline, Apple Original Films put in the highest bid in a ā€œspirited auctionā€.

Littleā€™s known about The Corsair Codeā€™s premise, though itā€™s reportedly a ā€œhigh-octane sci-fi mystery adventure.ā€

The Adam Project, released on Netflix in 2022, starred Ryan Reynolds as a fighter pilot who travels back in time and meets his 12 year-old self. It contained a bit of heartstring-tugging familial drama, lots of action and some trademark quips from Reynolds. Itā€™s possible The Corsair Code will follow a similar, 80s-inspired formula.

Beginning as a novelist in the early 2000s, Tropper has since become a successful Hollywood screenwriter, with his work including the comedy-dramas This Is Where I Leave You (also for Shawn Levy) and Kodachrome, as well as the TV shows Banshee, Warrior and Your Friends And Neighbours.

Tropper will partner with Levy once again for an upcoming Star Wars movie ā€“ though given how often Lucasfilm either cancels or leaves projects in development hell, it remains to be seen whether itā€™ll ever actually happen.

Itā€™s still early days on The Corsair Code, clearly, so itā€™s unlikely itā€™ll be troubling AppleTV+ for couple of years yet. Weā€™ll keep you posted as we learn more.
