Those who had a feeling that Marvel’s Avengers would be a pretty brief excursion into the world of Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow et al will perhaps still be slightly deflated to learn that you’ll be able to complete the core story of the game pretty quickly, as revealed by Crystal Dynamics Senior Brand Director Rich Briggs late last week.

“I think it’ll depend on exactly how deep you want to go into it,” Briggs said. “So if you think about previous Crystal games, you know that if you want to be playing your way through the core story, it’s going to be in that area, 10 to 12 hours.”

Briggs did add that there is more to enjoy from the Tomb Raider-adjacent experience that Crystal and Square Enix have put together, should you wish to extend your time with the Avengers, including some planned DLC in the offing.

“If you want to see everything there is, and do all the side missions and everything else, you’re generally looking at 30 plus hours in the Tomb Raider games. So we’re not putting exact numbers on it just yet, but you can expect something comparable to what we’ve done in the past with that regard. And then, of course, you have the extended narrative and the extended game plan, more heroes post-launch.”

Marvel’s Avengers will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on 15th May, 2020. It was recently confirmed that Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, will also be a playable character when the game arrives.
