CD Projekt RED is collaborating with Anonymous Content on a live-action project set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, although it’s a way off at present.

CD Projekt RED has announced that it is working on a ‘live-action project’ set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.

The project will be a collaboration with Anonymous Content, a media company that has produced TV series such as True Detective and Mr. Robot, as well as films like The Revenant and Spotlight. Anonymous Content is also behind the upcoming Time Bandits TV series from Taika Waititi, as well as Disclaimer from Alfonso Cuarón, among other series.

There’s currently no word on whether this Cyberpunk live-action project will be a TV series or a film, however, and it appears to be in the very early stages. The press release says that the project is currently looking for a screenwriter to “tell a brand-new story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077“.

All we have so far is a list of producers: Garrett Kemble, David Levine, Ryan Schwartz, Bard Dorros and Charlie Scully. No actors have been confirmed yet, although naturally we’re wondering whether Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves might possibly reprise their roles from the game.

CD Projekt RED has already had some success in TV. The Netflix anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners won many plaudits, scooping up Anime of the Year from IGN and Crunchyroll. No doubt a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action series has the potential to be similarly well received – although it sounds like it’s a considerable way off at the moment.
