Dead By Daylight is getting a content update based on Ridley Scottās 1979 classic, Alien. More details are due to emerge on 8 August.
One of cinemaās most formidable monsters is coming to asymmetrical horror game, Dead by Daylight. āThe suffocating silence of outer space pushes resolve beyond its limits,ā developer Behaviour Interactive tweeted from the gameās Twitter/X feed yesterday, attaching the teaser trailer you can see below.
Yes, the title creature from Alien is set to make an appearance in Dead by Daylight, and it appears that the Nostromo ā the shadowy, claustrophobic spacecraft that served as the 1979 filmās setting ā will also be an environment in the game.
Rumours have been circulating about an Alien DLC for Dead by Daylight for a while, with a Disney and Fox employee seemingly teasing the crossover as long ago as October 2022, according to this Reddit post. Confirming months of speculation, Behaviour Interactive says itāll be revealing more information about the xenomorph-based DLC on 8 August.
It was only last week that actor and walking meme Nicolas Cage was added to Dead by Daylight, having been announced on 18 May. Now we canāt help wondering what on earth a movie in which Nicolas Cage clambers aboard the Nostromo to fight the Alien would actually look like.
Nicolas Cage and the Alien are but the latest in a long line of special guest stars in Behaviour Interactiveās multiplayer opus. Previous visitors have included Pinhead from Hellraiser, Ghost Face from Scream, and Roseanne Arnold. We may have made that last one up.
The Alien has, of course, provided the inspiration for dozens of video games since the filmās launch in 1979. These ranged from Concept Softwareās surprisingly effective 1984 8-bit computer game, which turned surviving against the space monsters into an absorbing (and occasionally unnerving) strategy experience, to Creative Assemblyās positively stressful Alien: Isolation.
Thereās no word as to when Dead by Daylightās Alien DLC will launch, but its release date will likely be announced on 8 August.
