Wisconsin-based studio Fantasy Flight Interactive is sadly heading for closure next month. Studio head Tim Gerritsen announced the news over on LinkedIn yesterday, where people swiftly began reaching out to help both Gerritsen and his employees find new positions in the industry.

The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game, initially released in EA on Steam back in the summer of 2018, is still Fantasy Flight Interactiveā€™s only game. Though the Tolkien-embracing title received plenty of warm reviews, it never really took off, and unfortunately this will make it a ā€˜one and doneā€™ for FFI.

ā€œItā€™s with great sadness that I have to report that the decision has been made to close Fantasy Flight Interactive next month. Iā€™m proud of the team and the game weā€™ve dedicated ourselves to for the past few years,ā€ Gerritsen posted.

ā€œItā€™s a been an amazing journey with even more amazing people. Iā€™m going to do my best to get my team placed in new positions. I have programmers, designers, artists, QA staff and a producer to get placed in new roles and will do my best to do so quickly. Additionally, Iā€™m now open to new opportunities myself since I will also be out of a job.ā€

There has so far been no confirmation from publisher Asmodee Digital regarding the possibility that it will continue to support The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game after FFIā€™s closure.
