According to Vin Diesel, Universal wants two Fast X sequels and a Dwayne Johnson return. Diesel wants street racing and practical stunts.

There’s a really fun blockbuster satire currently on Sky Comedy called The Franchise. It’s a fun show that punctures the sometimes perplexing demands that studio executives make during tentpole movie productions. In real life however, poor Vin Diesel seems to be living inside his own personal satire given that while the rest of the USA are celebrating Thanksgiving, he’s struggling to meet contradictory studio demands over the sequel to Fast X.

Diesel took to Instagram to reveal his angst, stating: “I got Universal in one ear saying we need FastX2 by March 2026! I have Concast [sic] in the other ear saying we need two movies to be the Finale!”

It’s the first we’ve heard of the film’s finale being split into three parts rather than two, but who knows – it might just be the first time Diesel has heard this demand himself and he’s posting his dismay so we can all share in his angst in real-time.

Diesel also revealed that he’s facing pressure to mend fences with Dwayne Johnson so the entire Fast family can reunite for the franchise finale.

“Then the writer on Fast Five sent me this image [pictured above] and said we need to see DOM and HOBBS resolve their differences,” Diesel added.

The two stars famously fell out a few years ago and haven’t worked on the same film in the series since, with Diesel appearing in Fast X while Johnson made the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw with Jason Statham.

Diesel ended his Thanksgiving communique by suggesting he wanted the next Fast film to be a reboot of sorts. Something closer to the original from 2001, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2026 – right when the next film is due.

“I just want to get back to real street racing, practical stunts… and a reunion of that beautiful brotherhood,” Diesel wrote. #

Will Diesel be allowed his back-to-basics sequel, though? Perhaps, although his happy ending might be several more films away yet. It could even include a Hagrid crossover movie.
