Director Jalmari Helander’s Sisu was one of 2022’s most pleasant surprises. The story of a one-man killing machine, loosely based on a real Finnish military sniper, it was a refreshingly simple yet effective tale of revenge. The action-thriller didn’t lack gore or tension, so naturally, a sequel was rushed into production.
Sony Pictures has now released the first trailer for the follow-up, subtitled Road To Revenge, and it looks like another thoroughly good time.
Take a look at the Sisu: Road To Revenge trailer below:
Jorma Tommila is back as former army commando Aatami Korpi, who took on the Nazis who stole his stash of gold in the first film. In the sequel, he’s on the hunt for revenge and searching for the Red Army commander who killed his family. In fact, Aatami takes his whole house (dismantled and placed on the back of a truck) with him to enact his vengeance. That’s proper dedication.
With a bigger scale (and a bigger budget, we might add), director Helander is bringing in Hollywood reinforcements this time around; Stephen Lang joins Tommila as the commander Aatami hunts for. Regular Rob Zombie collaborator Richard Brake also stars.
Here’s a synopsis:
SISU: ROAD TO REVENGE is a wall-to-wall cinematic action event, a sequel to the original sleeper hit SISU. Returning to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the war, “the man who refuses to die” (Jorma Tommila) dismantles it, loads it on a truck, and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honour. When the Red Army commander who killed his family (Stephen Lang from Don’t Breathe) comes back hellbent on finishing the job, a relentless, eye-popping cross-country chase ensues – a fight to the death, full of clever, unbelievable action set pieces.
Based on that trailer, we’d say audiences can expect another delightfully violent, stomach-churningly gory movie. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Sisu: Road To Revenge is heading into UK cinemas 21st November.
