George Miller’s Furiosa is heading to DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray next month: more on the release here.
The best blockbuster of the summer? Well, George Millers fifth Mad Max film, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. That just about edges out The Fall Guy and the pleasantly surprising Twisters thus far, even though Furiosa failed to ignite at the box office. A direct prequel to the superb Mad Max: Fury Road, it wasn’t quite up to the standard of its forerunner, but still: nobody is making cinema like this.
On an IMAX screen, it was spectacular. At home? Some of the spectacle is inevitably going to be diminished. Still, the 4K disc promises to offer quite the home cinema workout, and we now know when the movie’s landing on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK.
The date to note down is 12th August. You can find the Blu-ray listing here, and the 4K disc listing here.
Disappointingly, at the moment there’s no word on any extra features, but we await the official announcement to get us a proper steer on that. The behind the scenes of Fury Road was quite something. Somebody must have some stories from behind the scenes of Furiosa. It may just be that they’re not on the disc.
We wait and see on that front, and will keep you posted.
For now, here’s the synopsis for the film, in case you’ve not had the pleasure…
As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.
