Series three of Gangs of London will air on Sky next year, and the trailer for it has landed. Right here, in fact.
After revitalising action cinema with the two astonishing martial arts films in The Raid franchise – his directorial debut, Merantau, is well worth tracking down too – Gareth Evans turned to television, co-creating Gangs of London with Matt Flannery in 2019.
A sprawling crime saga, the show follows the Wallace family as they grapple to keep control of their criminal empire. And we’ve had two series of it so far, with plenty of memorable moments to talk about.
The show became known for its notoriously violent action scenes, which are as visceral and gory as anything seen in a big screen slasher. Unsurprisingly, given Evans’ involvement, the work that went into those scenes was really quite something.
The show is now in its third series. Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù returns as lead character Elliot Carter, alongside Joe Cole as Sean Wallace, Michelle Fairley as Marian Wallace, Lucian Msamati as Ed Dumani, Brian Vernel as Billy Wallace, Narges Rashidi as Lale and Asif Raza Mir as Asif Afid.
New cast members for the new series include Andrew Koji, Richard Dormer, T’Nia Miller, Phil Daniels, Ruth Sheen and Mat Fraser.
Peter McKenna is the lead writer and Kim Hong Sun the lead director, with other episodes directed by Farren Blackburn and Tessa Hoffe.
Evans himself has been busy with his new big screen project Havoc, starring Tom Hardy. After numerous delays and reshoots, the film will finally stream on Netflix in 2025.
