After announcing that two previously revealed games were coming to Stadia Pro from 1st February ā Gylt and Metro Exodus ā Google has been struggling to placate Stadia users who are becoming frustrated with the lack of new game reveals and features that were promised for the platform.
A massive Reddit thread full of people wondering why they hadnāt heard about about any new free titles on the horizon for Stadia since before Christmas certainly got Googleās attention, but the companyās initial response was less than helpful, with community manager GraceFromGoogle just saying that they āunderstandā where āfrustrations are coming fromā.
Now, a representative from Google has offered a little more context for the veritable ghost town that is Stadiaās upcoming slate.
āWe understand the desire to hear more specifics on the games,ā they told GIBiz. āAfter all, that is what it is about: the games. Of course, not all 120 titles will be announced by the Stadia team, as we leave it up to the publishers to make the announcement about their IP/games, and which platforms it will appear on—just as we will do with the exclusive content coming to Stadia.
āThere are a lot of reasons for the time of those game announcements—anything from planned promotions or events, title readiness, proximity to first playable demo, shareholder requirements, etc. We continue to work closely with our publishing and developing partners and are here to support them in all areas. We are excited to share more about some of the exclusive games coming to Stadia soon.ā
Though Google is still eyeing these proposed 120 releases, thereās zero info on what they are or when Stadia users might hope to see them materialise, and early adopters continue to be disappointed by what is now seen as dearth of legitimate post-launch info that they can grab onto at this point.
