A concert film and documentary hybrid, Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond In The Desert will bring the composer’s legendary music to cinemas in March.
The brilliance of composer Hans Zimmer’s scores speak for themselves, and a new film aims to bring a live concert experience to cinemas. Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond In The Desert will feature the composer’s band and an orchestra performing some of his most iconic scores.
Diamond In The Desert isn’t just a concert film, however. It will also include conversations with Billie Eilish, Sir Christopher Nolan, Denis Villeneuve, Jerry Bruckheimer, Johnny Marr, Pharrell Williams, Tanya Lapointe, Timothée Chalamet, and Zendaya. The aim is to provide a glimpse into the musicianās creative process.
Paul Dugdale directs, while Bruckheimer serves as executive producer. Music from such films as Interstellar, Gladiator and The Lion King will feature, and will no doubt sound spectacular in a big theatre.
āThe Hans Zimmer Live tour has been one of the most exciting experiences of my career, and Iām thrilled to bring it to an audience in cinemas globally with Diamond In The Desert,ā Zimmer said of the film. āSeeing these compositions transform from their big-screen origins to the live show then back to the big screen is a delightful full-circle moment. I hope audiences enjoy this peek behind the curtain as much as we enjoyed making it.”
Diamond In The Desert is heading into cinemas on 19th March, courtesy of Trafalgar Releasing. Full details of screenings will be released on 5th February. You can find more information on Hans Zimmerās own website.
The news of the film comes only days after it was reported that Saudi Arabia had asked Zimmer to compose a new version of the country’s national anthem. Our prediction: itāll sound absolutely massive.
