Education charity Into Film have announced the nominees for this year’s Into Film Awards, recognising entrants as young as eight years old. More below…

What do you get when you combine the UK’s best and brightest young filmmakers with BFI funding and a load of (presumably) lovely trophies?

Every year, the Into Film Awards celebrate some of the very best young filmmaking talent the UK has to offer, accepting short films from all UK residents aged 19 and under.

Supported by the BFI, the awards include seven categories for every genre and age group, from under-11s Best Animation to Best Documentary. Entries this year cover a range of topics from dyslexia and climate change to a frog’s quest to fly like a bird. We’ve watched a few, and they made us feel very inadequate.

Entrants are encouraged to make the films on their own or as part of a team, with several nominees created by entire school year groups.

And, new for 2024, the Time for Action category (sponsored by Swatch) asks young people to create a film that raises awareness of issues important to them and explores the changes they would like to make in the world, whether big or small; personal or society wide.

The Into Film Awards ceremony will take place at ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London on Tuesday 25th June 2024, hosted by actor, writer and director Susan Wokoma.
