Douglas Hodge and Betty Gabriel are among the recruits for the new Jack Ryan film, starring John Krasinski. More here.
The cast of the new Jack Ryan movie is beginning to expand, with filming presumably now not too far away.
John Krasinski follows Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine by playing Ryan on the big screen. In his case, he’s had a fair amount of practice too, having played Ryan on the hit television series, that’s cunningly entitled Jack Ryan.
It may well be that the new film, which is being backed by Amazon MGM, will also go by that name as well. It’s been known for a while that John Krasinski, Sienna Miller, Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly are in the ensemble.
Now, some further additions have also been announced. Betty Gabriel, JJ Feild, Max Beesley and Douglas Hodge are signing on the dotted line.
The film is being directed by Andrew Bernstein, and the script for the new Jack Ryan movie has been penned by Aaron Rabin and ā yes! – John Krasinski.
In terms of plot, mothing is being given away at the moment, but it’s a fair bet it’ll follow on from the four seasons of the television show (albeit standalone enough for passers by not to feel isolated).
Also missing? Well, we don’t know when the movie is going to be release, but the fact that casting is getting so advanced at least suggests that filming is going to get underway in the next month or two. That should point towards the new Jack Ryan film being with us in 2026. Hopefully, it’ll get a nice, juicy cinema release.
The best Jack Ryan film to date? Ah, glad you asked. Clear And Present Danger, I’d suggest. Which for me, also happens to be the best Harrison Ford film of the 1990s as well. I look forward to constructive debate about this matter in the comments, and am confident that we’ll all agree. Hereās a long chat with its director, Phillip Noyce.
More on Jack Ryan as we hear it.
