In the early 2010s, the BBC’s rebooted Doctor Who was reaching the peak of its renewed success, and Russell T Davies, Steven Moffat and the team behind it seemed to have the world at their feet.
In the US, one of the team behind that success, Jane Tranter, had moved to BBC Worldwide and was looking to expand the Timelord’s appeal to the realm of the big screen.
Enter a Harry Potter director, Sony Pictures (allegedly), rumours of parallel Doctors, reboots, and other shenanigans… All of which upset the apple cart back in Cardiff.
