Confirming earlier reports, Scarlett Johansson has enthusiastically confirmed she’s to star in the next Jurassic Park film.
About three months after the stories first began to circulate, Scarlett Johansson has confirmed that she’s to star in the next Jurassic Park film – the first since 2022’s Jurassic World: Dominion.
Johansson also expressed her enthusiasm for the franchise, and returning screenwriter David Koepp’s script in particular – it’s “incredible” she says.
“The script is so incredible. David Koepp wrote it and returned after 30 years to write it and he’s so passionate about it,” Johannson told ComicBook.com (via Variety). “I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable.”
Koepp wrote the original Jurassic Park (based on Michael Crichton’s novel) for Steven Spielberg in 1993, and returned to write The Lost World: Jurassic Park four years later. It’s long been said that his latest screenplay will be a reboot, and entirely separate from the three Jurassic World movies directed by Colin Trevorrow.

As a result, Johansson will lead a new cast of characters, with Mahershala Ali (who was confirmed in late May), Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise and David Iacono among the actors lined up so far.
Godzilla and The Creator filmmaker Gareth Edwards was announced as director in February, and the production is working on a compressed time schedule. Filming is due to begin on the 31st July this year at Elstree studios, and the film is currently aiming for a 2nd July 2025 release date. Given the complex VFX the franchise requires, it’s a fairly tight turnaround.
At present, the reboot’s title is still unknown. There have been reports that it’s called Jurassic City (which we’ve stuck with for now) but some outlets are also tentatively dubbing it Jurassic World 4 or even Jurassic Park 7. Jurassic Johansson has quite a good ring to it, though, doesn’t it?
