Terraforming Mars developers LuckyHammers have shut up shop, itā€™s been confirmed. LuckyHammers owners Dom Roussy and Marc-Antoine Pinard told GamesIndustry that a massive investment in VR that didnā€™t pay off and issues with their publishing partners ultimately led to the studioā€™s demise.

The closure of the studio in Montreal has affected around 70 employees at LuckyHammers.

ā€œWe are very proud of what we have been able to accomplish during our five years in business,ā€ Roussy and Pinard said in a statement. ā€œWe have been working with a lot of extremely talented and dedicated individuals and are wishing to all of them the best in their future endeavours.

ā€œWe are working very hard at making sure all of our employees can find a new home/studios where they will be able to keep expressing their creativity and the art of making games. We organized a get together for our employees with all the major studios in Montréal to assure a smooth transition and continuity.ā€

LuckyHammers released turn-based strategy game Terraforming Mars on Steam in October 2018 to mixed reviews. They had been working on releasing Lovecraftian adventure title Mansions of Madness: Motherā€™s Embrace this year.

Wireframe #18 is out now.
