Marvel’s Blade has faced numerous delays, but cast member Mia Goth has spoken out about them for the first time. Read her comments below.
Marvel’s Blade has had, shall we say, a troubled production. The upcoming film has gone through two directors and several rewrites, but it seems that Marvel is pressing ahead still.
Mia Goth, who is reportedly playing Lilith in Blade, addressed the delays in production on the red carpet for her new film MaXXXine. Deadline asked her about the vampire film and Goth said people behind the project “really care, they do. They want to make a great movie. That’s the sense that I get from them and that feels good.”
Goth’s comments come just days after reports that Mahershala Ali, who is due to play the titular vampire hunter, is getting increasingly frustrated with the project. Ali has been attached to the project since 2019 but not a single frame has been shot still.
Blade currently does not have a director attached after Yann Demange exited the project earlier in June. Eric Pearson is the latest screenwriter to try and crack the script for Blade.
Goth, however, is currently busy promoting MaXXXine, Ti West’s ambitious, 80s-set horror sequel, which will close out the horror trilogy that started with 2022’s X. MaXXXine is one of the buzziest titles of the year and will find Goth’s Maxine Minx chasing fame in 80s’ LA, while the Night Stalker killer roams the streets.
