Mission: Impossible 8 has been given the official title Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning – and there’s a trailer to prove it.
We’ve been following the production story of Mission: Impossible 8 for a while now here at Film Stories. The film’s price tag has grown considerably due to the small matters of a global pandemic and extensive Hollywood strikes, but we have a feeling there’s a good reason for Paramount splurging on the latest sequel.
The studio has released the first trailer, and revealed that its full title is now Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The word “final” feels… well, final. Could this truly be the end of Ethan Hunt?
It’s all very dramatic, and eagle-eyed fans will notice that the trailer shows a number of previous Mission: Impossible locations, only adding to the inescapable feeling of finality. Should we get our hankies ready? The trailer also comes with the conclusive-sounding tagline, “Our lives are the sum of our choices.”
There’s a new poster too, featuring a black and white, serious looking Cruise:
Naturally, Tom Cruise is back as Hunt and, true to form, can be expected to run an awful lot. Christopher McQuarrie is directing and Cruise is joined by – deep breath, everyone – Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell and Frederick Schmidt in the cast.
The film is still a while away, due to hit cinemas on the 23rd May 2025. We’ll keep you posted on more developments.
