Modus Games has acquired The Balance Inc in a new deal that will turn the Brazilian developer of Override: Mech City Brawl into Modus Studios Brazil. Having successfully been released on PS4, XBox One and PC, Override is heading to Nintendo Switch later in 2019.
“The procurement of its first development studio reflects Modus’ devotion to long term franchise creation and support, and reinforces the Modus mission to be a leading resource and ally for independent developers,” the company said in a statement (via MCV).
“This is one of many giant steps for Modus as we strengthen our goal to bring AAA publishing services to independent developers,” added Modus CEO Christina Seelye. “With the creation of Modus Studios Brazil, we will be better positioned to fund and support burgeoning markets and enhance Modus IPs.”
“We are very excited to embark on this new endeavour with Modus Games,” said The Balanceās co-founder, Lucas Carvalho. “It’s been our dream to push our creative boundaries and work on a wide variety of games, and our new partnership with Modus has made this possible.”
Frozenbyte is releasing Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince through Modus Games on 8th October, and Moondrop and Exordium have put out Degrees Of Separation and Bear With Me: The Lost Robots respectively through the company this year, but this marks the first development studio acquisition for Modus.
We sense that the fast-growing publisher will announce more deals fairly soon.
