Marvel has released a new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, giving us our first look at the Silver Surfer.
Marvel is getting ready to release its next superhero romp Thunderbolts* into cinemas in just a few weeks’ time, but all eyes are on its July offering. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is bringing Marvel’s first family to the big screen, hopefully with much better results than previous iterations.
After releasing a brief teaser trailer a couple of months ago, Marvel has just released a full promo for the movie. Take a look at the new The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer:
It’s safe to say that the new clip gives us a lot more to chew on than the first trailer. Aside from a threatening shadow and some feet, there’s still no clear look at Galactus himself (itself? We’re not sure what’s the deal with the pronouns of intergalactic entities) but we do get a proper look at Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer, who arrives on Earth to cause trouble.
We also get our first look at Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) using his stretching abilities. It’s been a tricky effect to pull off but I must say, it looks pretty decent here. Reed also blames himself for attracting the Silver Surfer and her army to Earth after he “stretched the bounds of space and they heard.”

Pascal is joined by Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the titular superhero team and Ralph Ineson, Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne and John Malcovich also star in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Matt Shakman is in the director’s chair.
We’ll leave you with the film’s official synopsis:
Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is in cinemas 25th July.
