A young man gets more than he bargained for in the forthcoming horror thriller, Obsession. There’s a new trailer and everything:
2026 is shaping up to be an excellent year for horror. Not only is Mike Flanagan personally trying to make sure Stephen King’s novels get decent adaptations across film and TV, but we’ve also got films such as Dolly, Undertone, The Bride! and Hokum to look forward to. There are more, but we won’t list them all here.
The latest creepy horror film to receive a new trailer is Curry Barker’s Obsession.
The promo’s age-restricted, so you might have to head to Youtube to watch it, but trust us – it’s worth the effort.
In just 47 seconds, that clip gives a pretty good idea of the scares waiting for us in May – and this writer certainly can’t wait.
Here’s a proper synopsis for the film:
After breaking the mysterious “One Wish Willow” to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.
The film stars Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson and Megan Lawless. Barker is writing and directing this one, too.
If Barker’s name rings a bell, that’s because in 2024, he directed the viral found-footage horror movie Milk & Serial Not only did Barker direct the film, he also wrote, edited and scored while also co-produced and co-shot it. It was produced for roughly $800 and released on Youtube. It’s very, very good too. Here’s a link.
The film had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in the famous Midnight Madness section. Critics were very positive on the film, but we’ll find out for ourselves on 15th May when Obsession arrives in UK cinemas.
