The Fall Guy director David Leitch is the latest filmmaker to be linked with Warner Bros’ heist sequel, Ocean’s 14.

Warner Bros has explored ways to spin out films from its Ocean’s series in the 18 years since Ocean’s 13 released, talk about another entry in the mainline series has slowly been picking up pace. George Clooney and Brad Pitt are said to be keen to reunite, having recently done so for Jon Watts’ Wolfs. Clooney stated a few months ago that a “great script” was in place, and now it seems the search for a director is gathering momentum.

Steven Soderbergh, director of the first three Ocean’s films, has indicated in the past that he isn’t interested in returning to make another. According to The Insneider, David Leitch is now in the frame to pick up the reins. Leitch’s recent filmography focuses on big action set pieces in a comic style (Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Bullet Train), although last year’s The Fall Guy also stepped into romantic comedy territory.

Leitch has worked with Pitt before on 2022’s Bullet Train, and should Warner Bros decide that he is the director of the next Ocean’s movie, speculation will begin as to just how many star names from the series could feature. As well as Clooney and Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Elliot Gould and Don Cheadle are a mere smattering of the heavyweight Hollywood talent that has appeared in the series, not to mention all of the new female characters introduced in 2018’s spin-off, Ocean’s 8, which included Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway

Talk of a prequel was circulating a couple of years ago with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling rumoured to be taking leading roles. One report even claimed the project was about to enter production in France in 2023, yet that never happened.

Instead, it now looks like Warner Bros is opting to revisit the original films with another entry. Nothing is locked down yet, but as soon as we hear something official, we’ll let you know.
