A24ās latest high concept horror film has the grandiose title of Opus, and the trailer has landed. Take a look here.
Film studio A24 has proved itself to be a frontrunner in bold, original, risk taking storytelling, usually with small budgets and tidy profits. From distributing daring titles like Harmony Korineās Spring Breakers, Alex Garlandās directorial debut Ex Machina and Robert Eggersā The Witch, it soon moved into producing. Examples? The Safdie Brothersā anxiety inducing Uncut Gems, Ari Asterās Hereditary and Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinertās Oscar winning Everything Everywhere All At Once. A24 has become quite the stamp.
Its next release is the thriller Opus. And the synopsis for it reads as followsā¦
A young writer is invited to the remote compound of a legendary pop star who mysteriously disappeared 30 years ago. Surrounded by the starās cult of sycophants and intoxicated journalists, she finds herself in the middle of his twisted planā¦ Mark Anthony Greenās feature debut is a bold, fun, flashy pop-horror. Ayo Edebiri delivers as the meek yet hungry journalist Ariel — her unique charm radiating alongside a distinct final-girl prescience. John Malkovich is effervescent and hypnotic as Moretti, a deified global phenomenon making a dramatically malevolent reintroduction.
The cast also includes Juliette Lewis, Murray Bartlett, Amber Midthunder, Tatanka Means, Young Mazino, Tamera Tomakili, Stephanie Suganami, Peter Diseth and Tony Hale.
Mark Anthony Green makes his feature directorial debut from his own script.
Opus will be released on the 14th March in the US. There is currently no news on a UK release date, weāll keep you updated as we hear more.
