Radio Silence will be reuniting with Kathryn Newton for the upcoming sequel to Ready Or Not, Ready Or Not 2. More right here.
Kathryn Newton will once again be teaming up with filmmaking collective Radio Silence, this time on their horror sequel Ready Or Not 2. The Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania actor previously collaborated with the directing duo on last year’s Universal horror movie Abigail. Collectively known as Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Radio Silence announced the sequel last October.
The original Ready Or Not writers are also back: Guy Busick and R Christopher Murphy will provide the filmās screenplay while Samara Weaving ā the original filmās star ā is also returning.
Plot details are under wraps at the moment, so we have no idea who Newton will play or how the action will be connected to the events of the first film. Weāre hoping that the same stripped-back approach of the original will be continued here: a lone woman, an obnoxious blue-blooded family of rich predator, and plenty of bloody mayhem. Talking about their script last year, Radio Silence described it as an āabsolute fucking banger,ā so thereās that to consider.

The plot of the first film followed Grace (Samara Weaving), who was meeting her fiance’s family for the first time. They reveal that she will be partaking in one of their traditional games, in which Grace must evade capture and fight for her life. Last yearās Abigail, while entertaining enough, didnāt quite recapture the magic of Ready Or Not for this writer, and the trick this time round for Radio Silence will be to revive that feeling but in a horror sequel, so often a space for diminishing returns.
Perhaps thatās why Newton, as reported by Deadline, has been drafted in? Could we see two leads in the sequel? It would certainly shake up the format a little, but thatās purely speculation on our part. Beyond her role as Cassie Lang in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, Newton also featured in the lead roles in 2024 ās Lisa Frankenstein and 2020ās Freaky so she certainly has form in this kind of film.
After grossing around $60m from a $6m production budget, Ready Or Not has gone on to enjoy what seems like a healthy half-life, appearing consistently on streaming platforms in the years since its release. Whether that means that the sequelās release will be able to tap into that wider audience remains to be seen, but weāre hoping to hear more casting news soon. When we do, weāll let you know.
