One of the loveliest and highest-regarded films of the year, certainly in this neck of the woods, is the terrific The Ballad Of Wallis Island. I’m getting the impression, by how long the film has hung around UK cinemas, that I’m not alone in this though.
Directed by James Griffiths, written by Tim Key and Tom Basden, and starring Baden, Key and Carey Mulligan, the modest independent film has turned into a bit of a box office hit.
Release at the end of May in the UK, the film has only recently been made available on digital over here, such has been The Ballad Of Wallis Island’s cinema success. There hadn’t been any sign of a physical media release too. Well, until now.
Dazzler Media has picked up the disc rights to the film, and joyfully, there’s a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release on the way. It’s been set for 10th November 2025, and you can order it here…

Eccentric lottery winner Charles Heath (Tim Key) lives alone on remote Wallis Island, where he invites his favourite folk duo—Herb McGwyer (Tom Basden) and his ex partner Nell Mortimer (Carey Mulligan)—to perform exclusively for him.
He offers them £500k each, but conceals that the gig is for one audience: himself, in memory of his late wife. Tensions flare when old wounds resurface, fueled by jealousy, unmet expectations, and creative conflict. Amid quirky island life and Charles’s endearing eccentricity, the trio begin to heal. Music becomes a bridge, helping them confront grief, lost love and the passage of time. As night falls and lanterns rise, each finds solace: Charles in connection, Herb and Nell in closure—and hope for new beginnings.
