Rebecca Ferguson completes the star-studded cast for Enid Blyton adaptation The Magic Faraway Tree. More on the film below.
The Magic Faraway Tree has quickly become one of our most anticipated upcoming films. Simon Farnaby has written the script and Ben Gregor is on directing duties and the film boasts a pretty impressive cast, including Claire Foy, Andrew Garfield, Sir Lenny Henry and Nicola Coughlan to mention a few.
There’s one more name to add to the long cast list and that is Rebecca Ferguson. Ferguson is set to play the film’s villain, Dame Snap.
“Rebecca is a towering screen presence, one of the finest actors of her generation, and will be an electrifying addition to our movie,” Gregor said of Ferguson’s casting in the press release. Ferguson is certainly an inspired casting choice for Dame Snap. She was terrific as the villain in Doctor Sleep and although weāre pretty sure The Magic Faraway Tree will feature less ghosts and child murder, weāre excited to see what Ferguson can do with the role.
Ferguson is pretty busy these days. Not only has she appeared in Dune Part II earlier this year, Silo season 2 is set to be released this November. Ferguson is also filming Kathryn Bigelow’s new film, the Peaky Blinders film and Mercy, Timur Bekmambetov’s sci-fi thriller, this year, making her one of the busiest actors in Hollywood. I don’t know how she does it, I need a nap just after listing all her upcoming projects here.
The Magic Faraway Tree doesn’t have a set release date yet, but Deadline reports that the film is currently filming in England, which makes us hopeful we might see it in late 2025 or perhaps early 2026.
