A British independent short film about a mixed race man at a family gathering is in need of your help. More on Threads below:
Getting short films made is a bit of a challenge these days. Many projects rely on crowdfunding, and we like to do what we can to help out.
With that in mind, we’d like to bring a British short film called Threads to your attention.
Threads comes from Underscore Studios and follows Aiden, a mixed race man who has to fake his way through a family dinner after his mother has lied to the family, claiming that Aiden has embraced his heritage and language.
The script, which has already received acclaim, was written by Jordan John and Georgina Ambrey, and will be directed by Harris Alvi. The script was the Top 5 Finalist at Shore Scripts 2025 and was also longlisted for the British Short Film Screenplay Awards in 2024.
As with most crowdfunding projects, you can either pledge any amount of money without a reward, or there are set pledges that come with their own perks. You could get a private screening link before its premiere or get a producer credit.
Threads is inching closer to reaching its target funding. The film is currently 42% there, so it needs a final push to get things over the line. Threads has another month of crowdfunding ahead of it, so there’s still time to hit the target.
You can find the crowdfunding campaign on Greenlit.
If you’re not able to pledge anything, may we suggest sharing this post or the crowdfunding page to get it in front of more people? We wish Threads and its production team all the best in their journey to get this short film made.
