Marvel has released the first trailer for its upcoming team-up film, Thunderbolts*, starring Florence Pugh and others. Take a look below

We’ve barely recovered from the cinematic whiplash of Deadpool & Wolverine, but there’s no rest for the wicked. Or Marvel, at least.

Thunderbolts*, Marvel’s latest team-up movie with an admittedly impressive cast, has been in the making for what seems like forever, but there’s finally proof that the film exists and is hitting cinemas next year.

Take a look at the first Thunderbolts* trailer below.

The trailer doesn’t come up with a lengthy synopsis, just a warning:  “Careful who you assemble.” Noted.

The trailer finds Florence Pugh’s Yelena first visit her father Alexei (David Harbour with a thick, questionable Russian accent) and recruit him for a new team. Later on, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, Olga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster and Wyatt Russell’s John Walker join Yelena and Alexei in the team dubbed the Thunderbolts. We’re not exactly sure what their mission is quite just yet, but we do know Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is somehow involved.

Jake Schreier is in the director’s chair for this one, while the script was penned by Eric Pearson, Lee Sung Jin, and Joanna Calo. Curiously, the film’s title got an asterisk added to it earlier this year. Actor David Harbour addressed the title change in an interview with Comicbook.com, saying the addition “is very cool. I understand why people might put an asterisk there. Iā€™m excited for the viewers to see that as well.”

We blame Amblin Entertainment ā€“ as far as weā€™re aware, its 1987 sci-fi comedy *batteries not included (yes, all in lowercase) was the first movie to have an asterisk in the title.

We’ll just have to wait and see what the asterisk means when Thunderbolts* hits cinemas in May 2025.
