As Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater celebrates its 20th anniversary, a new documentary is set to shine a light on the influential game series. Ex-Neversoft producer Ralph D’Amato and Swedish director Ludvig Gür are behind forthcoming indie doc Pretending I’m Superman, which received its first proper trailer this past weekend.

In the film, we’ll get to see much of the development of the highly influential series from the ground up, including interviews with many of those that had a hand in it as they look back on turning skateboarding into a more mainstream sport, and inspiring a whole generation of kids to take it up.

And here’s Mr. Hawk doing some mo-cap for the first game. Unfortunately, it didn’t make it into the final product because there wasn’t time to include it, but as Tony says, “at least I got to do a bunch of hard tricks while wearing an embarrassing suit.”

Pretending I’m Superman will be released later this year.

Wireframe #21 is out now
