Rian Johnson’s next stab at the murder mystery format is sprinting headlong towards production, with another famous face or two joining an already starry cast.
After a week with slightly chaotic casting reports flying all over the place, we’re getting a much better idea of what Wake Up Dead Man – the third in Johnson’s beloved Knives Out Mystery franchise – is going to look like. Challengers’ Josh O’Connor and Civil War's Cailee Spaeny were first to join our list of suspects, followed swiftly by Kerry Washington and Andrew Scott.
Now, The Hollywood Reporter are, er, reporting that Johnson’s fleshing the cast out with some proper Hollywood royalty in the form of Glenn Close. Cruella Deville swapping barbs with Moriarty? Count us in for opening night, thank you very much.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL: Deadline are getting in on the action, and they reckon Avengers alum Jeremy Renner has also signed on the dotted line. We hope Rian Johnson brought enough chairs…

As a reminder, Wake Up Dead Man's title was announced by Johnson himself last week, continuing the series’ song title theme with a nod to a certain U2 track. The film marks the second Knives Out Mystery written and directed by the Last Jedi boss as part of his $450m Netflix deal. The last film, Glass Onion, did get a limited cinema release though – fingers crossed Wake Up Dead Man will see something similar.
