Mortal Kombat 1 is the new entry in the series from NetherRealm Studios, and thereās a new trailer to prove it.
The rumours were correct ā the next game in the MK series is indeed Mortal Kombat 1.
NetherRealm Studios has been teasing the reveal of its latest fighting game for some time, with pictures of ticking clocks hinting at a reboot for the series. And a reboot is pretty much exactly what weāre getting, with the first trailer marking the return of some very familiar faces.
True to form, Mortal Kombat 1 is as deliriously gory as its predecessors; note how, in the trailer below, the dramatic scene-setting is soon replaced by a dizzying array of smashed-in skulls and gouged-out eyeballs. Be sure to play it with your headphones on for maximum bloodcurdling effect (viewer discretion advised):

As you can see, MK1 is due out on 19 September, with preorders opening on 19 May. Thereās no word yet whether the reports that the DC universeās Peacemaker or The Boysā Homelander will appear as guest fighters, though the trailer does reveal that a preorder of the game will unlock Shang Tsung as a fighter. Oh, and youāll get beta access with said preorder as well.
