The shoot for The Batman Part II gets a further delay, with the Robert Pattinson-headlined movie now not filming until 2026.

With the release of 2022’s The Batman, director Matt Reeves scored a box office and critical hit, and the plan was for a sequel to be moving a lot faster than it has been. Assorted rumoured start dates have come and gone for The Batman Part II, and the same is happening again.

I’m beginning to think this is a difficult story to report on, as there’s something awry behind the scenes. In normal circumstances, there’s no way that Warner Bros wouldn’t have got a sequel moving faster than it has, not least as it aims to zero in on big franchises and such like. I’m hoping, therefore, that the personnel involved are okay and in good health. I’ve no insight or behind the scenes knowledge – I’m just a boring old nerd from the West Midlands in the UK – just something doesn’t feel quite right.

Yesterday, then, Robert Pattinson was being talked about as joining the cast of Denis Villeneuve’s third Dune film. That’s going to involve a time commitment of several months, and that’s going to overlap with when The Batman Part II was due to next start shooting.

It appears from a fresh report that The Batman Part II isn’t set to go before cameras until 2026 at the earliest. Matt Reeves is still directing, and Robert Pattinson is still starring. At the moment, the film has a release date of 1st October 2027. That, clearly, may end up in some degree of flux.

Full casting details will presumably be forthcoming once a locked in production date has been confirmed. In the interim, I think I’m going to back away from the game of internet rampant speculation, and just quietly hope that everyone is okay.

More on The Batman Part II as and when we hear it. Might be a while.
