Ncutu Gatwa and Verada Sethu will be on the big screen this May, as Doctor Who season 2’s final two episodes head to cinemas.

Once again, Doctor Who is heading to the big screen, just in time for the end of the show’s latest series run. The BBC has announced that the last two episodes of the current season are going to be screened in cinemas on 31st May, repeating what happened last year.

It’s a partnership with BBC Studios and CinemaLive, and it’s going to bring together cinema screenings of episodes seven and eight. Episode seven is Wish World, and the eighth is The Reality War. Both are written by Russell T Davies, and both are directed by Alex Sanjiv Pillai.

The screenings will coincide with the day the final episode is available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

As per Natasha Spence at the BBC, “We’re delighted to be partnering with CinemaLive once again and give Doctor Who fans across the UK and Ireland the opportunity to watch their favourite show together. This finale promises to be an amazing ride for Whovians, and we’re excited to share the Doctor and Belinda’s latest adventures with them on the big screen.”

Tickets for the screenings are going on sale at 10am on 1st May 2025. If it’s anything like last year, these will be midnight screenings too, at a point where even a new Marvel movie doesn’t seem to get midnight screenings anymore. That said, timings of the screenings this year haven’t yet been announced. There’s a website that will have more details though, that you can find right here.

It’s been an impressive season run of Doctor Who thus far, and hopefully, ratings will climb for the season two send off as well. It’s not confirmed, but it seems little secret that the future of the show is up in the air. Continued interest in a cinema screening can’t do any harm.
