The Amy Adams-headlined The Woman In The Window, a thriller aimed at adults, is set to be sold by Disney to Netflix.
One of the more troubled films that Disney picked up when it acquired 20th Century Fox was the thriller The Woman In The Window. Starring Amy Adams, the movie is based on the novel by A J Finn, and has been directed by Joe Wright.
Also in the ensemble for it are Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman, Tracy Letts, Anthony Mackie, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bryan Tyree Henry and Wyatt Russell. And Disney has been pondered what to do with it ever since the Fox acquisition. The film, following reports of poorly received test screenings, has undergone reshoot work, but also the fact that it’s likely to come with an R-rating has left the studio with a quandary. Fearing, presumably, a struggle to get a financial return on the film, Disney isn’t able to sent it to its Disney+ streaming service (which has a PG-13/12A limit), and thus is set to offload the project altogether.
Netflix is now in negotiations to buy the thriller, which is pretty much done and ready to go. A deal is imminent.
Here’s the trailer that was released last December, back when the film was planned for a May 2020 release.
Netflix hasn’t yet released the new launch date for the movie, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
