British movie podcast of the week: FilmBusters – two years on…

As we celebrate two years of our movie podcast of the week feature, we go back to where it began and catch up with the FilmBusters. The Film Stories British movie podcast of the week is two years old this week, and what better way to celebrate than go back to where it all started, and use this anniversary to revisit the very first podcast we featured – FilmBusters – and find out what they’ve been up to. Ben, Paul and Adam were the first podcasters to ever be featured on the Film Stories site, and while the furore has died down, the parades have ceased and the paparazzi have stopped hounding them and their families for exclusives, we wanted to revisit FilmBusters and find out what’s changed for them since they were first featured back on 8th November 2019. That original article is here. We wanted to know, does filmbustin’ still make them feel good? Have they resorted to human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together and mass hysteria? Or are they just continuing to release episodes every week and living the good podcasting life? Luckily for everyone, it’s very much the latter. Since we last caught up with the FilmBusters team, not much has changed behind the scenes. It’s still Ben, Paul and Adam and they still love everything about what they do at FilmBusters, but what has changed is upgrades to their equipment, funded by their growing list of Patreon subscribers. It’s the love they have for the podcast, the listeners and the content that they attribute to their longevity; even throughout multiple lockdowns, they were still regularly posting content, both podcast episodes and as articles on their website, ably assisted by writers Becky and Scott. Their biggest achievement in the last two years? A review quote on the front of a Nicolas Cage DVD (they gave Primal four stars). We’d argue they have more achievements than that, though. You’ll not find a bunch of podcasters who are more dedicated to what they do, as well as to the community as a whole. They plan to use their growing platform for good, with a view to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society with a 24-hour live podcast at some point in the near future Their best piece of advice to any new podcast is simple – perseverance. Don’t be disheartened if you don’t find an audience straight away, just keep at it, be genuine, get to know other podcasters and good things will happen. Wise words indeed. We couldn’t have asked for a better first featured podcast; to start the feature as we meant to go on. And since I heinously omitted it last time, I need to ask you. Who you gonna call? (The answer is obviously FilmBusters!)
