Daniel Craig is set to return in Knives Out 2, if all goes to plan.

One of the delights of the winter movie season just gone was writer/director Rian Johnson’s delicious whodunnit, Knives Out. Anchored by Daniel Craig’s wonderful detective Benoit Blanc, the $40m movie has grossed six times its budget and counting, with a disc release due in March set to bring in more funds.

It’s a rare standalone movie success, and the good news is that we might be seeing Benoit Blanc again. Johnson is understood to be developing a further adventure for the detective, a role that Craig is keen to reprise.

What’s more, this may yet be an ongoing franchise, beyond a second film. Johnson is committed too to developing a new trilogy of Star Wars movies, but those plans aren’t progressing quickly, with no new movie set to land in the franchise for three years.

Knives Out 2, then, looks like it’s high up on his slate. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
