Danielle Macdonald and Joanna Lumley are to headline Falling For Figaro.
Introducing a new production by the name of Falling For Figaro, a movie with a couple of unusual Venn diagrams at work.
The first is that this is the first film to our knowledge that crosses over the world of opera with a romantic comedy. The second is that this is a co-production between Screen Scotland and Screen Australia, which geographically don’t seem the most logical of bedfellows.
The movie stars Patti Cake$’ Danielle Macdonald as a fund manager who quits her job, dreaming of a career in opera instead. As such she finds herself under the tutelage of a singing teacher – set to be played by Joanna Lumley – who happens to live in the Scottish highlands.
The movie is set to film in Scotland early next month, so that should be nice and warm. Allen Palmer and Ben Lewin have penned the screenplay, and Lewin is directing.
The post-production work on the feature will be completed in Australia, and we’d anticipate a release at the back end of next year. More on the movie as we hear it.
