With Renny Harlin directing, there’s a solid action movie foundation for The Bricklayer to, erm, build on.
Aaron Eckhart has appeared in some hit action flicks, not least the
Has Fallen flicks, not to mention Christopher Nolan’s
The Dark Knight. Renny Harlin can also boast something of an action pedigree too, with
Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger and
Deep Blue Sea to his name, among others. Consider our interest piqued then, when we learned of
The Bricklayer,
In the new project from Millennium Media, Eckhart will star as ‘an ex-CIA operative who is brought back to the agency on a mission to uncover the identity of an unknown perpetrator slaughtering foreign members of the media and framing the CIA for the killings. Known for being a cunning yet defiant agent, Eckhart’s character will soon find himself smack dab in the middle of an international emergency, as well as a face-off with his personal demons, as all eyes focus on America’s involvement in the slayings.’
As if the project needed any more action chops, it also has Gerard Butler producing. Butler worked with Eckhart on the
Has Fallen films, and certainly knows a thing or two about getting movies of this genre over the line.
Harlin has been making films outside of Hollywood for a while now, with
The Bricklayer marking his return. The film is set to shoot in Greece in March. We don’t have any type of release window yet, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
