The key creatives behind 2019’s Uncut Gems are set to reunite this year for their next project, Adam Sandler has revealed.

News emerged last October to indicate that Adam Sandler would once again be working with the Safdie Brothers, reuniting the key creatives behind 2019’s acclaimed drama Uncut Gems. At the time, Sandler told Vanity Fair that “I’m going to do a movie with the Safdie brothers, and we’re supposed to start in the late winter, right. So part of my brain right now is like, I’m on tour. Then once that Safdie brothers movie starts – and I love those guys, I know we’re going to dedicate ourselves into working our asses off and making sure it’s as good as it can be, and I know that takes a lot of time.”

Late winter came and went without any news but as Sandler does the rounds for Murder Mystery 2, he’s offered a brief update as to when he expects his next collaboration with the Safdies to go before cameras, telling Collider, “we’re working on that, but I think this summer.”

Although plot details for the film are currently under wraps, Sandler also offered a tantalising nugget as to what the plot of the film may revolve around, adding “it’s in the sports memorabilia world. And I just kind of want them to decide how they want to present it.”

Whilst here in the UK, we got Uncut Gems on Netflix like almost every Adam Sandler movie of recent years, A24 was the main force behind the film and it distributed the film in the US. As of right now it is as yet unclear who is backing this new project but rest assured, we’ll bring you more details on this one as we hear it.
