The remake of A Prophet finally moves forward, now with Andrew ‘Rapman’ Onwubolu behind the camera.
Well, crikey. Off the back of his success with his debut feature, Blue Story, director Andrew ‘Rapman’ Onwubolu has now landed the job of a high profile remake. Paramount Pictures has signed up to direct A Prophet, the remake of 2009’s superb French thriller. There’s been chatter about a remake for some time, and now, finally, it has its helmer.
Dennis Lehane has penned the screenplay for the film, that Neal J Moritz will be producing (through his wonderfully-entitled company, Original Film).
The English language version of the film is going by the name of American Son, and the original film really is worth seeking out. It’s a high bar, and we’re fascinated to see how the movie pans out. Huge congratulations to Rapman on landing the job.
