Tommy Wiseau’s cult curio The Room is now being remade for charity – and Bob Odenkirk is starring.

The Room – that one – is being remade with Bob Odenkirk. Yep, really.

Acting For A Cause is a charity that typically stages Zoom script readthroughs of classic plays and films, with the proceeds helping to fund good causes,

In the case of The Room, though, it seems it’s going one step further. Instead of just reading the script, it seems it’s filming a feature length production against a greenscreen which will show locations from the original film, with the proceeds going to amFAR, a charity dedicated to AIDS research.

The project was produced and directed by the organisation’s Brando Crawford, who also appears alongside Pieces Of Her actor Bella Heathcote.

The Room is arguably the most popular modern cult film ever made. The bizarre script, non-sequiturs and of course Wiseau’s career defining, if for all the wrong reasons, performance all coalesce into one of the strangest pieces of cinema of the last 30 years. James Franco chronicled the making of the film in The Disaster Artist back in 2017.

In a tweet, Odenkirk said that “This is real. This is true. And let me tell you, I tried my best to SELL every line, as honestly as I could…and I had a BLAST”.

We can’t wait to see it.

There is no release date as of yet, but you can keep up to date with Acting For A Cause’s productions on its website.
