Alex Garland’s Civil War is coming to DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK this July: more details on the release here.

A bit of a surprise this. Entertainment Film Distributors don’t put out too many films these days, and certainly hasn’t supported the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray physical disc format before. Its maiden release on the format is going to be a fine one though: Alex Garland’s Civil War, which proved a success in cinemas earlier this year.

Boasting an ensemble led by Kirsten Dunst, the film was written and directed by Garland, and has clearly resonated, heading past $100m at the global box office. The movie, as you may well know, is quite a rage-filled piece of work, an entirely fictional piece about a divided America tearing itself apart. Thank the lord for the escapism of the movies.

Civil War is coming to physical media in the UK this July, on DVD and Blu-ray too. A 15th July 2024 release date has been revealed, and you can find more information on those formats, and order a copy, right here.

As for the 4K disc, you can find that here.

The synopsis for the release is as follows…

From filmmaker Alex Garland comes a journey across a dystopian future America, following a team of military-embedded journalists as they race against time to reach DC before rebel factions descend upon the White House. The UHD includes a 4K disc and a Blu-Ray disc. The Blu-Ray version includes bonus features: documentary and Q&A with director and cast.

Our own review of Civil War is here.

The film is up for preorder now. We don’t have more information on the extra features outside of what’s written in the synopsis above, but we’re glad there are some extra features. And we’re glad, too, that it’s getting a proper physical media release. It’s a movie that feels like it certainly deserves one.
