Cynthia Erivo is set to produce and star in an adaptation of hit West End play Prima Facie, here are the first details.

Prima Facie is a play by Australian writer Suzie Miller which had a phenomenally successful West End run last year, largely thanks to a bravura performance by Jodie Comer.

The one woman play explores the plight of a defence attorney who represents, among others, those accused of sexual assault. When she is sexually assaulted herself, she soon finds the very laws she used to twist to her advantage used against her as she fights for justice.

The production was filmed and broadcast last year via NT Live. Comer subsequently performed the play on Broadway.

However, Comer will be absent from the film adaptation, which will instead star and be produced by Cynthia Erivo, soon to be seen in the film adaptation of Wicked.

Miller adapted her own play, which will be directed by Susanna White.
