Summer is looking rather excellent as Disney+ confirms the release dates for its two most highly-anticipated series, The Bear season 4 and Alien: Earth.
There is no shortage of excellent TV these days. The Last Of Us season 2 has had us on the edge of our seat for the past few weeks, Andor has once again proved to be one, if not the best Star Wars offering and the new season of Love, Death + Robots looks positively bonkers.
And there’s more to look forward to as Disney+ gives The Bear season 4 and Alien: Earth official release dates.
We’ll join Carmy, Richie and Sidney at their new restaurant on 10th June as all ten episodes of season 4 become available. Naturally, Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are all returning to their break-out roles in the new season of The Bear, which has a ton of Emmy awards under its belt and season 4 is under pressure to keep that run up.
Here’s a synopsis for the new season: Season four of FX’s “The Bear” finds Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (White), Sydney Adamu (Edebiri) and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Moss-Bachrach) pushing forward, determined not only to survive, but also to take The Bear to the next level. With new challenges around every corner, the team must adapt, adjust and overcome. This season, the pursuit of excellence isn’t just about getting better – it’s about deciding what’s worth holding on to.
We’ll have to wait for Alien: Earth a tiny bit longer, with the first episode premiering on Wednesday 13th August. The series consists of eight episodes in total and will follow a weekly release schedule.
Disney+ has also kindly released a new, lengthy plot synopsis for the series which finally clarifies what those teaser trailers were all about. If you’d rather go in blind, we recommend skipping the next couple paragraphs.
When the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s “Alien: Earth.”
In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.
So, it’s a comedy then. We’re sure nothing could go wrong as Wendy encounters these mysterious life forms. Disney+ has also released the first batch of episodic images for the series, one of which you can see at the top of this page.
Noah Hawley’s new Alien series is one of the buzziest new TV releases this year, especially as there seems to be more than just the Xenomorphs causing trouble.
The Bear season 4 is available on Disney+ 10th June, with previous seasons now streaming.
Alien: Earth will release weekly starting from 13th August.
