Further personnel news for the upcoming Marvel movie, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Already this year, director Scott Derrickson has departed the project (although will remain an executive producer), with Sam Raimi in talks to now helm the movie.

Now we learn that Michael Waldron has been recruited to take over the script for the film. He’s been working on the Disney+ series Loki, and has previously written for Rick & Morty. He’ll take on a screenplay that’s previously been penned by Jade Bartlett.

Benedict Cumberbatch is set to reprise the lead role for the film, with Benedict Wong expected to return too. One absentee from the original ensemble is set to be Rachel McAdams, who is now unlikely to return.

Filming on the movie begins later this year, for a 2021 release date.
